More than 130,000 locations – about 80% of our customers – have new Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters as of late August. We are on track to finish installations by the end of 2020, at which point most of our 164,000-plus customers will have new meters and access to My Power.
The new meters increase reliability, better monitor demand and allow IREA to consider additional cost-savings programs, pre-payment plans and a wider variety of rate structures.
