Director of Business Development
$179,726 – $193,557 (PSM-7)
Reports to the Chief Member Experience Officer. The Director of Business Development serves as CORE’s subject and policy expert on best practices, partnerships, strategies, and opportunities to implement the economic development business plan and CORE’s overall approach. As CORE’s primary point of contact for existing large load customers, municipal franchises and new business prospects, the Director of Business Development is responsible for CORE’s response to large business customers and EDOs’ requests for energy incentives for economic development. This role also will be responsible in developing and executing an actionable corporate business growth strategy that drives results through increased revenue and customers. The Director must exhibit the ability to articulate value proposition and solution offerings to ensure customer satisfaction while balancing the interests of the customer, regulatory agencies, local EDOs, and CORE’s members.
10+ years of work experience related to the duties and responsibilities of this position is required. Related experience consists of working for a local or state economic development organization, municipality, or agency as an economic developer, or in similar work for a business or association. Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college in economic development, marketing, business, or any other related field of study required; advanced degree preferred. Knowledge of utility sector. Ability to understand complex regulatory and policy issues. Considerable knowledge of business development, community, and economic development. Working knowledge of municipal zoning and infrastructure, and planning programs and processes. Experience working in the electric utility industry in a capacity that deals with local governments and agencies, customer accounts, community groups, utility planning functions or public policy. Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) is highly desired.
