IREA announces Kathleen Solano as Chief Administrative Officer

Intermountain Rural Electric Association is pleased to announce the hiring of Kathleen Solano to fill the company’s newly created position of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), effective May 24, 2021.

In this role, Kathleen will oversee the Human Resources, Information Services and Fleet and Facilities departments. She will also play a key role in driving and executing company-wide strategy, setting overall goals and metrics, and proposing projects, systems and programs that align with company strategy and will help move IREA forward.

Kathleen brings over 30 years of experience in a variety of areas including leadership, customer and field services, workforce development and planning, and technology resource planning and governance. Two of Kathleen’s notable accolades include the creation of a customer-centric culture that was recognized locally by the Better Business Bureau and nationally by JD Power, and an award-winning training program recognized by International Quality and Productivity Center (IQPC) and Association for Talent Development (ATD).

Kathleen’s experience also includes more than 20 years in the utility industry, most recently serving as General Manager, Information Technology for Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU). Kathleen also served as General Manager, Customer Services, and Manager, Workforce Development for CSU.

Kathleen holds a Bachelor of Arts in communications, with a minor in management from Sonoma State University located in Rohnert Park, California.
