IREA proposes changes to rates and regulations

Intermountain Rural Electric Association is proposing changes to its Rates and Regulations that will go into effect September 1 if approved by the association’s Board of Directors. The proposed changes do not increase rates.

If the amendments are adopted, customers can expect the following:

• Lower demand and time-of-use (TOU) residential energy rates. The basic monthly service charge for such accounts will increase from $10 to $12.50, but customers who are part of the TOU program should see decreases in their monthly bills because of lower energy rates and the elimination of administrative charges.

• An opt out option for Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). Customers who request to opt out will continue to receive non-AMI metering services, but there will be initial and monthly charges because of the additional set-up and meter-reading costs involved in serving customers who opt out of the more efficient AMI system.

• Field service charges for some customer-requested service calls.

Official notice, along with a redlined version of the Association’s Rates and Regulations with the proposed amendments, is available here.
