CORE Electric Cooperative’s GIS Manager, Duane Holt was recently named an Esri Electric GIS Hero. Esri is the global market leader in GIS, helping customers get results to the most difficult problems, pioneering problem-solving with GIS to help you see what others can’t.
Being named an Esri Electric GIS Hero means you are one of the best in the entire GIS field and is truly a great honor. According to their official website, Esri Electric GIS Heros have gained respect from the electric industry colleagues who see them as problem solvers. Their humble natures and genuine love of GIS make them the people everyone wants to work with. These Heroes, like Duane, inspire others to imagine how GIS can help them do their work better.
Duane has been with CORE for 28 years. His GIS team supports all facets of the business using Esri Desktop and Enterprise applications to deliver the information that keeps us a premier utility. In addition to supporting daily operations, GIS is involved in nearly every initiative from Operational Reliability to Wildfire Management to Renewable and Economic Development.
When asked what it meant to be named an Esri GIS Hero, Duane said, “Being recognized by the industry-leading software of GIS is a big deal. All of the previous GIS Heros that are on the page are people that I look up to and I was quite honored to be placed in the same category with them.”
CORE’s CEO Jeff Baudier stated, “This rare and prestigious recognition honors Duane as one of the best GIS technicians in the country. In achieving this, Duane honors his team and all of CORE. I’m sure all of you see every day how important GIS is to our business because it touches on every single part of what we do. This technology will only become more important as we move towards a data-driven future. Our goal of being the premier utility in Colorado (and beyond) is clearly within our reach when we have the best on our team here at CORE.”
