CORE Electric Cooperative is committed to maintaining efficient and safe operations of our essential equipment. Our guidelines regarding landscaping and fence construction near our infrastructure ensures the safety of our operations and protects our members.
It is crucial that our equipment — such as transformers, meters and other key components — remain readily accessible to our service technicians. Overgrown vegetation, improperly placed fences and other obstructions can significantly hinder our ability to quickly respond to outages or perform routine maintenance.
CORE meters and fences
When constructing new fences, please ensure the electrical meter remains outside the fence. A clear and level working space of four feet must be maintained around the meter at all times. If a fence is already installed, CORE requires reasonable access to our equipment. If you have any locked gates, we kindly ask that you provide a gate code for access.
Landscaping near pad-mounted transformers
Single-phase transformer equipment must have a minimum of 18 inches of clear working space on the sides and rear of the equipment, and 10 feet of clear working space in front of the equipment.
Please refer to our Right of Way Planting Guidelines, here for more information, including a list of trees and shrubs suitable for our climate.
By working together and following these guidelines, we can keep our community’s power infrastructure safe, accessible and efficient.
