IREA continues to receive customer reports of utility scams.
The latest reports describe an individual going door-to-door claiming to represent IREA. The individual uses the premise of renewable energy quotas to sell rooftop solar systems.
One customer reported the individual later returned with a second person who claimed to be his boss.
Their sales pitch has been described as pushy and even “aggressive”, as the individuals attempted to gain entry into the person’s home.
We want customers to know:
• IREA does not have agreements with rooftop solar providers. Any rooftop solar installer claiming to represent IREA is lying.
• Our personnel will not require access to the inside of a home or business.
• You can call us at (800) 332-9540 to verify whether a person is an IREA employee on a legitimate service call.
