IREA’s headquarters in Sedalia now has a solar carport for employee parking.
Denver-based Pivot Energy constructed the 431-kilowatt carport, which began producing clean energy in May. It is designed to avoid greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to driving 100 vehicles for one year, or the CO2 emissions of consuming 53,000 gallons of gasoline.
The carport can house 130 vehicles and includes multiple electric vehicle charging stations for employees.
“We sought a solution that provided covered parking, renewable energy and convenient electric vehicle charging stations,” said IREA Chief Executive Officer Pat Mooney. “The new facility meets all of those goals.”
