CORE is not affiliated with any solar vendors; please contact us if you have concerns.
CORE is aware that several rooftop solar providers are actively contacting members and offering the opportunity to purchase systems to be interconnected with our grid.
We urge customers to contact our Engineering Services department at (303) 688-3100, before signing any agreement or purchasing a rooftop solar system. Sales personnel may not fully understand CORE’s net metering policy and rate structure, both of which affect the solar financial equation.
CORE will provide any interested member an information packet that includes a cover letter, list of required documents, interconnection agreement and rules and regulations. This packet provides answers to most questions regarding generation interconnections and is essential reading for anyone considering rooftop solar.
We also want customers to be aware of the following:
• CORE does not have agreements of any type with any solar providers granting either exclusive or non-exclusive business within our service territory.
• CORE is not at all against solar interconnections. We do, however, want our members to have the most accurate information regarding rooftop solar, which is not always provided by door-to-door and other solar vendor sales teams.
• CORE does provide via our website the application for an interconnection, which describes in detail net metering and qualified facilities. That application can be found on our Generation Interconnections webpage.
• Our Engineering Services department is happy to discuss with any member or solar vendor the application process and answer any questions regarding interconnection with the grid. Call (303) 688-3100.
• If your solar vendor is not familiar with CORE’s policies and procedures or our load factor adjustment (LFA), be sure to contact us to discuss how installation of solar may affect your monthly bill.
• Solar vendors often operate in multiple states with varying policies on interconnections and may not be familiar with CORE’s rate structure. Request that any explanation of possible benefits be based specifically on CORE’s rate structure.
• Be wary of comments seen on social media, especially generalizations and mischaracterizations of CORE’s policy regarding solar. Solar sales and installation personnel sometimes falsely blame CORE for their own company’s business decisions. We do not and cannot prohibit any solar providers from installing their products in our service territory. We also do not have a preferred company for rooftop solar installation.
