Throughout our 5,000-square-mile service area, CORE regularly uses drones and other aircraft to inspect overhead lines and equipment. These inspections allow crews to identify potential issues more efficiently, reduce the need for difficult field access and help maintain safe, reliable electric service for members. They also play an important role in our wildfire mitigation efforts and help us restorage outages more quickly.
Members may see contractors conducting drone operations in their area. Personnel performing this work are FAA certified, carry CORE credentials and use contractor vehicles displaying CORE branding.
If you encounter drone activity, please do not interfere with the drones, aircraft or related equipment. Doing so can create safety hazards and disrupt important system inspections and maintenance work. Additionally, any attempt to damage, destroy, or interfere with these aircraft is strictly prohibited under federal law.
If you have questions or concerns about drone activity, please contact CORE directly. We appreciate your understanding as we work to improve our system and protect members and employees.
