Members should carefully plan their landscaping so that, as vegetation grows, it does not interfere with electrical facilities. Problems are created for repair crews when homeowners plant shrubbery and other plants that grow to completely cover transformer boxes and other equipment.

What you can do to maintain a safe landscape:
• Single phase transformer equipment should have a minimum of 1 foot 6 inches of clear working space on the side and rear of the equipment, and 10 feet of clear working space in front of the equipment.
• Do not plant trees within the right-of-way surrounding overhead transmission lines, or any tree expected to grow beyond 10 feet within the right-of-way surrounding overhead distribution lines.
• Plant trees at least 20 feet from distribution or transmission poles and structures.
• Call Colorado 811 at least three business days before you dig, grade, or excavate for the marking of underground utilities.
• When constructing new fences, please ensure that the electrical meter remains outside the fence. A clear level working space of 4 feet must be maintained around the meter at all times. (Example seen in the image below). If a fence is already installed, CORE requires reasonable access to our equipment. If you have any locked gates, we kindly ask that you provide a gate code for access.
