The Scenic Route: Public EV Charger Attractions

Nothing spells ‘fall’ quite like a drive through Colorado’s gorgeous leaves and scenery. 🏔🍂 Picture yourself cruising down the mountain roads, windows down, enjoying a smooth drive in your zero-emission electric vehicle (EV).

A common concern for many Colorado residents is the convenience of EV chargers. As your trusted energy advisor, we know that providing an ever-expanding public charger network is essential for your needs as an EV owner.

No need to worry about your Colorado road trips this year! CORE has 12 public chargers throughout our nearly 5,000-square mile service area, with more to come throughout the year. Here are some nearby attractions to visit while you charge at any of our chargers this fall:

Sedalia CORE Headquarters (Level 3)

  • Take in the beautiful Colorado scenery at Castlewood Canyon State Park.
  • One of the most popular hikes just southwest from the town of Sedalia is Devil’s Head Fire Lookout – a 2.8-mile trail in the Pike National Forest and is home to the only fire lookout tower in Colorado.
  • Head next door to Cherokee Ranch and Castle for history tours, tea and other entertainment.
  • Explore downtown Sedalia and grab a bite to eat.

Douglas County Stations including Parker and Castle Rock (Level 2)

  • Let your pups out in the park for a nice car break at Glendale Open Space Trail in Castle Rock.
  • Visit downtown Castle Rock for a wide selection of great restaurants.
  • Practice for the famous Manitou Springs Incline by doing the Castle Rock Mini Incline or the Rueter-Hess Incline in Parker.
  • Colorado Pumpkin Patch & Hayrides will have all your fall activities throughout September and October.
  • The Miller Activity Complex (MAC) in Castle Rock offers many activities and recreation for the whole family.
  • Right next door to the MAC is Phillip S. Miller Park, hosting many events including the Edge Ziplines and Adventures.

Bennett (Town Hall - Level 2 & CORE District Office - Level 3)

  • If you’re looking for a nearby trail, check out Sand Creek Greenway Trail in Star K Ranch Park.
  • Civic Center Park is a quick 3-minute walk from the Bennett Town Hall.
  • Take a short drive over to Mile High Farms for their Fall Festival open Sept. 28 through Oct. 27.

Deer Trail (Level 3)

  • Visit Richmil Ranch Open Space for some tranquil outdoor time.
  • If you’re looking for some pumpkins, head over to Trinity Acres Pumpkin Patch for their Fall Festival opening Sept. 21.
  • Check out May Farms in Byers, CO for public events such as cornhole leagues, paint nights, food trucks and more.

Elizabeth Town Hall (Level 2)

  • Castlewood Canyon State Park is about a 16-minute drive away for any hiking and rock-climbing adventures.
  • Explore the Victorian homes and antique stores on Main Street which has the look and feel of a true Western town.
  • Holly Acres Nursery and Garden Center has beautiful plants in addition to pumpkin festivities during the fall season.
  • Head over to Elizabeth Brewing Company for happy hour.
  • If you’re a golfer, stop by the Spring Valley Golf Club for tee time.

Kiowa Town Hall (Level 2)

  • A fall activity for the whole family – visit The Patch from Sept. 21 through Oct. 27 for pumpkin picking, hayrides and a corn maze!
  • Hike the beautiful Bingham Lake in Pinery Park.

Palmer Lake (Level 3)

  • Palmer Lake is adjacent to the 14-mile Santa Fe Regional Trail which supports many activities such as biking, hiking and horseback riding.
  • Check out Spruce Mountain Trail – a 5.3 mile moderate hike in the Spruce Mountain Open Space.
  • The Palmer Lake Wine Festival is on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, bringing a selection of wine from 25 different wineries.
  • Take a short 5-minute walk down the road for some great restaurant options and Rock House Ice Cream for some local flavors.
  • Walk around Palmer Lake Reservoir or stop by Palmer Lake Recreation Area for views of picturesque Ben Lomand Mountain, fishing, kayaking or just picnicking on a nice day.

Woodland Park (Level 2)

  • Interested in dinosaurs? You won’t want to miss the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center.
  • Visit Manitou Park Lake or Rampart Reservoir for some water activities.
  • Take a scenic drive along Pikes Peak Highway.
  • Find a hiking trail of your preference at Mueller State Park.
  • On Fridays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., stop by the Woodland Park Farmers Market through September in Memorial Park and on Henrietta Avenue and Center Street.

Bailey (Level 3)

  • If you’re up for an adventure, head to Treehouse Adventure Park for some zip lining and aerial courses!
  • Head to The Sasquatch Outpost for a large selection of Squatch-related merchandise.
  • While cruising on Highway 285, stop at Coney Island Boardwalk (shaped like a giant hotdog).
  • Consider taking Guanella pass to your mountain adventures for some fall leaf peeping.
