Mile High Lineman’s Rodeo
CORE sent three teams of linemen as well as five apprentices to compete in the Mile High Lineman Rodeo at the Bandimere Speedway on Saturday, June 8. This year, there was a total of 21 teams and 99 apprentices competing, including participants from Public Service Company of Colorado, Southwestern Public Service Company of Colorado, Colorado Springs Utilities, Southern California IBEW47, NVEnergy, Southeast Colorado Power, Mountain View Electric Association and Mountain States Line Constructors.
The rodeo events are based on traditional lineman tasks that are critical to the jobs the employees perform every day.
The rodeo consisted of two categories:
- Team division which consisted of three Journeyman Lineman or two Journeyman Lineman plus a Utility Worker “B/C”. The teams competed in four events: pole climb with a raw egg, hurt-man rescue and two mystery events.
- Apprentice division, where the individual competed in five events: pole climb with a raw egg, hurt-man rescue, written test and two mystery events.

International Lineman’s Rodeo
The International Lineman’s Rodeo & Expo will be held on October 16-19, 2024 in Overland Park, KS at the Overland Park Convention Center and in Bonner Springs, KS at the National Agriculture Center & Hall of Fame.
