IREA linemen were among the top competitors at the recent Mile High Lineman’s Rodeo at Bandimere Speedway near Morrison.
Journeymen TJ Havens, Todd Waymire and Shadoe White finished seventh among nearly 30 teams. They also finished first in Hurtman Rescue and third in a mystery event that had them replace a crossarm supporting a simulated energized 4-kilovolt primary line.
IREA’s other journeyman team – Nick Lawson, Heath McCoy and Mitch Vanderpool – finished fourth in Pole Climb.
Apprentice linemen Duncan Beth, Levi Collison, Zachary Reynolds, Josh Robertson and Bryce Wasson also did well.
Beth placed seventh in the Apprentice Test, fifth in Hurtman Rescue and first in a mystery event that required swapping three overhead fuses. His time of 6:01 was more than a minute faster than his closest competitor.
Collison finished ninth in the other mystery event, which involved slack blocks and eye splicing.
Reynolds was sixth in overall scores, 10th in Hurtman Rescue and second in the fuse swap mystery event.
Wasson was seventh in overall scores, second in Pole Climb, first in Hurtman Rescue and third in the slack blocks/eye splicing mystery event. His time of 30 seconds in Hurtman Rescue was 12 seconds ahead of second place.
Congratulations to the IREA participants who competed this year.
